CRNA Advocacy Alert: Submit Recommendations to CMS for Supervision Removal

On your behalf, the AANA has been working tirelessly with the administration, agencies, and lawmakers to advance Executive Order #13890, “Protecting and Improving Medicare for Our Nation’s Seniors.” As you know, the executive order would significantly advance the CRNA profession by eliminating burdensome Medicare requirements including physician supervision and licensure requirements that are more stringent than other applicable federal or state laws, among other things.

We need your help! The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is seeking input and recommendations regarding the executive order. To amplify our voice, we are asking all AANA members to contact CMS by January 17, 2020.

Below you will find four sample letters focused on different topics. Please copy and paste your preferred letter, your own letter, or a combination of these letters into an email and send it to PatientsOverPaperwork@cms.hhs.gov with the phrase “Scope of Practice” in the subject line by Friday, January 17.

Please be sure to personalize your email, so that CMS does not see it as a “form letter.”

Sample Letters:
1. Removing Regulatory Burden
2. Small Government Conservatism
3. Pain Management
4. Rural Healthcare

If you have any questions, please contact AANA Federal Government Affairs at info@aanadc.com or 202-484-8400.
Thank you in advance for advocating for our great profession.

Sincerely,

Kate Jansky, MHS, CRNA, APRN, USA LTC (ret)
